In Roman times the cross was the symbol of death and a brutal one at that, it was understood as an irreversible end. In Jesus earthly ministry he would use the cross illustrate the path one must take in order to follow him, in Matthew 16:24 Jesus told his disciples “if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Now that’s one tall order, and when the going got tough, when Jesus was arrested by the authorities, his disciplines ran, one of his disciplines even went are far as to openly deny him. It wasn’t until Jesus defeated the cross, that his disciplines became emboldened to become absolutely fearless before death, all of his disciplines with the exception of John had a brutal death for Christ and none of them had deny him after what they had witnessed seeing Christ risen. Christ risen means Christ vindicated, anyone can say they are the messiah, anyone call said they are God and according to history many had but only Christ has proven his authenticity, by fulfilling the prophecies of the scriptures, by performing miracles during his earthly ministry and finally by defeating death itself. #christhasrisen✝️ #christianandnerdy
