Did Yeshua misspeak or lie about going to the Feast in John 7? Actually, “no”. 8 You go on up to the Feast. I’m not going to this feast, because My time hasn’t yet fully come.” 9 After saying these things, He stayed in the Galilee. 10 But after His brothers went to the Feast, He also went, not openly but secretly. — TLV https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+7%3A8-10&version=TLV You can see about the same in other “translations”, i.e. NASB, NIV, ESV, etc. The text, to be in harmony with v10, where He DID go to that feast, should read like, “I’m not going to this feast YET.” The keyword here, being “YET”.E.g. Go up to the feast on your own. I am not YET going up to this feast, because My time has not yet come.” — MSB https://biblehub.com/msb/john/7.htm\#7 Which is the long running text by the majority throughout NT history, including for the Eastern World, which mainly uses Aramaic, which yields the same. You can see the different translations of which ones have the word, or compatible term (e.g. “now”), and which ones that don’t, using the PARALLEL features of various Bible sites, e.g. https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/John%207:8 https://biblehub.com/john/7-8.htm https://biblehub.com/parallel/john/7-8.htm With such differences, when footnoted, it would be wise for teachers, preachers, speakers, writers, etc. to inform the readers / listeners of such, which can help others avoid misusing / misconstruing the difference(s). #Yeshua #John7 #Messianic #Nazarene #TheWay #Disciples #Apostles #Saints #TextualCriticism #TextualStudy #Bible #Scripture
