Do you know where to find "Yeshua" in the OT, Strong's Hebrew 3442: https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h3442/hnv/wlc/0-1/ and an Aramaic Specific one, for Ezra 5:2, Strong's Hebrew 3443: https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h3443/hnv/wlc/0-1/ which is derived from Strong’s Hebrew 3091: https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h3091/hnv/wlc/0-1/ and is noted in the lexicon as the same❓ I̲t̲'̲s̲ ̲r̲e̲n̲d̲e̲r̲e̲d̲ ̲a̲s̲ ̲"̲Y̲ĕ̲s̲h̲u̲a̲"̲ ̲i̲n̲ ̲"̲T̲h̲e̲ ̲S̲c̲r̲i̲p̲t̲u̲r̲e̲s̲"̲ ̲b̲y̲ ̲I̲S̲R̲…̲ https://my.bible.com/search/bible?query=Y%C4%95shua&category=bible&version_id=316 and some render it as “Yeshua”, (“ישוע”), but other Bibles render it differently, like “Ieshua”, “Jeshua”, “Jesus”, “Joshua”, and “Iosua”, and I don't know if there any other renderings. It’s scripting is “𐤉𐤔𐤅𐤏” in Classical Hebrew. For Nehemiah 8:17, that one is referring to the son of Nun, Moses' successor. FTR, the last syllable/letter has the Hebrew Letter (AYIN: “י”) that does not have an English Equivalent (𝘵𝘩𝘦 “𝘢” 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 ‘𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘭-𝘪𝘯’, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘶𝘴𝘦), and many Israelites accent that last syllable differently, as well as the “Y”, but from those I have heard express it have been consistent on the middle syllable, “shu” (i.e. ‘shoo’). #linguistics #bible #scriptures #languages #messianic #nazarene #netzari #disciples #h3442 #h3443 #h3091 #h3444 #masoretic #masoretes #qumran #DSS #DeadSeaScrolls #cuneiform
