RIGHTEOUSNESS VS SALVATION Yes, you are *already* forgiven, adopted, and seen as righteous ([Romans 5:1](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+5%3A1&version=NIV) However you are *not yet* perfect. You still live in a broken body, in a broken world, and you still make mistakes ([Romans 7:21-23](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+7%3A21-23&version=NIV)). You are a "Saint" who still occasionally acts like a "Sinner." You rest in God's finished work, yet you wake up every day and "strive" to live better. In the context of the Christian life, "tension" is the mental, emotional, and spiritual "pull" between two opposing realities that are both true at the same time. It’s often called the "Holy Tension" because it isn't necessarily a bad thing—it’s the friction that produces growth. The Bible commands us to "run the race," "fight the good fight," and "work out your salvation" ([Philippians 2:12](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians+2%3A12&version=NIV)).
