A rapacious fella rapes and kills schoolgirl Linda Mann in an intrepid detective's village. The detective , David Baker,promises her parents he'll catch the fiend but traditional policework goes nowhere. 3 years later the fiend strikes again. This time raping and strangling Dawn Ashworth. A local boffin from their university, Alec Jeffries, makes the newspaper for using DNA testing to help in an immigration courtcase to prove paternity. The intrepid detective reads the article and realising the professor is nearby, pays him a visit. And the rest is serial killer history
