🌿 FOLLOW THE MONEY: FLORIDA’S FIGHT AGAINST MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION In 2024, nearly 56% of Florida voters supported Amendment 3, which would have legalized marijuana for adults 21+. It failed because Florida requires 60%. But now we’re learning more about the government money surrounding the fight against legalization. A Florida grand jury found that $10 million in taxpayer money was misappropriated. The trail: 💰 $10M → Hope Florida Foundation ⬇️ 💰 $5M each → Two nonprofits ⬇️ 💰 $8.5M → Keep Florida Clean Keep Florida Clean was a political committee involved in the campaign against Amendment 3. Think about that. While Floridians were deciding whether adults should be free to legally possess marijuana, millions originating from public funds ultimately reached a political organization fighting legalization. Amendment 3 wasn’t perfect. It didn’t fully end marijuana prohibition or create a truly free cannabis market. But government shouldn’t use taxpayer money to help convince voters to preserve government prohibition.
