The Average Meme Coin Lives 12 Days. Here’s What Happens to the 5% That Don’t Die! Survivorship bias is the most consistent distortion in how meme coins get discussed. Every conversation about a "still early" token excludes, by definition, every token that already died, so the tokens people are actually talking about are a wildly unrepresentative sample of what actually launched. CoinGecko's study of 18.67 million Pump Fun tokens corrects for that directly: 68.67% never traded again after launch day, only 4.55% survived past 90 days, and the rate of tokens ever reaching a real decentralized exchange sits between 0.2% and 0.63%. Virtuals Protocol's AI agent tokens fail differently, not less often. Rather than an instant flatline, the platform's own most successful flagship agents, AIXBT, Luna, Ribbita, have each fallen 66% to 97% from their individual peaks while remaining nominally tradable, a slow bleed rather than a sudden death. The part worth sitting with: the platform with the most brutal-looking headline numbers (Pump Fun) also has the most rigorous data behind them, a full population study. The platform that looks healthier by comparison mostly lacks an equivalent study of its own long tail, meaning the real picture, if it existed, would likely look considerably worse than the famous survivors suggest. We built a tool that puts any token's current age against both curves, plainly. Try it: https://decentralised.news/meme-coin-trading-analysis #memecoins #cryptotrading #decentralisednews
