History has a habit of repeating itself. Societies rarely lose their freedoms all at once. More often, it happens gradually, people become comfortable with censorship, stop questioning authority, and eventually accept restrictions they once would have considered unacceptable. That's why history matters. Not to live in the past, but to recognise the warning signs when they appear again. Free speech isn't supposed to protect only opinions we agree with.
