[ DOES THE WORLD OWE US LOVE? ] Within each one of us lies an inherent need to be loved. It's not just a survival need, it's a spiritual need. Love is the very basis of existence, so the recognition of love and need for love is strongly etched into our spirit. Some of us think that the world and people just have to love us unconditionally, no matter what; just because we believe we deserve love. There's a famous saying that's best exemplifies this: "If you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." It's not wrong to believe that we deserve love, because we are! What's wrong is the conviction that we can expect the world and people to freely handing us love. That somehow they owe us unconditional love and even must be willing to put up with us at our worst as a proof of their love. Know that this is a wishful thinking of a child. It's a way of projecting the need of a child within and thinking the whole world must act accordingly like our own biological parents by giving us never-ending unconditional love. It's also not wrong to have the child impulse. That child will always become a part of our psyche and soul, no matter what age we are. What's needed is not to get rid of this child, nor to let ourselves getting controlled by him/her. Nor to demand the world to act like our own biological parents. What we need is to step up as an adult and to act as parents to our own inner child. This act of reparenting is an important requirement to fully master ourselves and finally be a mature and sovereign individual. Until this is done, we're still getting controlled by our inner child and psychologically and spiritually tethered to our biological parents. It should be the task of parents to give the child unconditional love. Now as an adult, we have to shoulder that responsibility ourselves. We have to be the one who love ourselves unconditionally by giving ourselves endless gentle compassion and also discipline. We become the channel of God's love and pour that divine love to ourselves and to the world. We also got to know that unconditional love originally comes from our true spiritual parent, which is God. When we embrace this reparenting role, we stop expecting unconditional love from the world and others, and we finally realize that the world and others actually deserves the best from us. It's our task as a part of humanity to be at our best and give our best to the world. We stop acting from the entitlement of a child, and now acting from the resourcefulness of an adult. And with this, we get to know a greater strength and grace of our spirit. 💗💓
