Cause it's not a Resident Evil movie. He wanted to write "a zombie movie in the snow" (his words). They added in the R.E. shit later on because the IP bought the script. But that's the problem, when you don't envision it as a PURE Resident Evil project from the jump, it's gonna feel gimmicky and 'memberberries' ish. It's gonna be shit from the previews I've seen esp the latest one yesterday from State of Play. Unfunny, unscary, just .. lame. Didn't even make physical logical sense the whole scene.
