Priesthoods have been corrupt since before history started being recorded. When the physical gods disappeared, they manufactured supernatural invisible gods for which they were always the intercessors. Varied doctrinal differences are only manipulated hooks to keep the gullible, hopeful and fearful paying tithes to the priesthoods while their only object was mass mind control.
