Federal judges blocked it in 𝟐𝟔 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬. HHS Assistant Secretary 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞 declared gender-affirming care for youth has the “𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵” of the administration and promised it would be “𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥.” The Cass Review in the UK found 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 supporting gender treatments for children. Sweden concluded the 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 and restricted treatment to research settings. Finland made the same call in 2020. Denmark and France followed. American Democrats 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 — while every country that actually reviewed the evidence pulled back. — — — This isn’t new. “Science” has always meant whatever the establishment needed it to mean. In 1967, the Sugar Research Foundation paid Harvard scientists Mark Hegsted and Robert McGandy $𝟔,𝟓𝟎𝟎 — $48,000 today — to publish a review in the 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦 that 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫. The funding was never disclosed. Hegsted later drafted the 1977 𝘋𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘎𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 — the Senate report that shaped federal nutrition guidelines for decades. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲. The obesity epidemic followed. They banned DDT — the most effective tool against malaria — based on Rachel Carson’s 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘚𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨. Malaria deaths in Africa hit 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫. When South Africa replaced DDT with alternatives, cases surged — then 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐃𝐓 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜. The WHO endorsed DDT for indoor spraying in 2006 — 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞. In 1968, Sierra Club executive director David Brower commissioned Paul Ehrlich’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘉𝘰𝘮𝘣 — which predicted “𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴” would starve to death in the 1970s. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠. Global food production vastly outpaced population growth. The world went from 3.5 billion to 8 billion while nutrition 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥. But the book shaped environmental policy for a generation. In the early 20th century, 𝐞𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐬. Over 𝟕𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 — California alone sterilized 20,000, roughly a third of the national total. In 𝘉𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘷. 𝘉𝘦𝘭𝘭 (1927), the Supreme Court ruled 8-1 that states could sterilize “unfit” citizens. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote: “𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩.” Supporters included Theodore Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, and the presidents of Stanford and Harvard. It was 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 — endorsed by the most prestigious institutions in America. In 1949, Egas Moniz won the 𝐍𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 for developing the prefrontal lobotomy. By 1951, nearly 𝟐𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐬 had been performed in the United States. Walter Freeman popularized the “ice-pick” method and performed 𝟑,𝟒𝟑𝟗 himself. The Nobel Committee called it “𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦.” Calls to rescind the prize continue to this day. In 2020, every Democratic presidential candidate supported 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 — Kamala Harris said “𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘐’𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨” — despite the fact that the natural gas revolution 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐒 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎% 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟓. Before COVID, the anti-vaccine movement was concentrated in 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 — Marin County, California (82% Biden in 2020) had vaccination rates 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝟔𝟎% in some schools. California personal belief exemptions 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐝 between 2000 and 2014 — clustered in “𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴.” 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 “𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞” 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝟐𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞. So, please ask yourself, WHY do you still believe all the nonsense about tobacco??? Do some REAL RESEARCH. Lynda Farley
