If AI truly poses a danger to humanity (and I believe it does), then the dismissive response "but we can't let China win the AI race" is irrelevant to the debate. You either have a government that allows the danger to materialize, or prevents the danger from happening. Republicans, as per usual, are on the global capitalism side of this debate.
