"THE DESTRUCTIVE SCROLL" Before the Internet was the Book.... before the Book was the Scroll... before the Scroll was the Word... (1) The original Scroll dates back to around 3000 BCE... and now in the 21st century it has returned... but not in the same form as before, which was predominately in the form of papyrus, parchment, or paper... now, we "scroll" on our computers, tablets and phones... on Social Media. The "Social Media Scroll" - has been labelled by many as the "doomscroll" (see a definition below) ... being the act of often, mindlessly scrolling through content on our devices... on Social Media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok etc... we are constantly bombarded with information / misinformation... "snapshots" of other peoples lives.... and "SNAPSHOTS" is exactly what they are... our perceptions are continually being manipulated... exploited... controlled... most of what we see online, is only one brush stroke in a very large picture. Most importantly - the effects that such things mentioned above is having on our Mind - can be very destructive indeed... "It seems that - Humanity was not ready for the Internet technology - they were given it much too early.
