Continuing the series on Cape Verde, this page is about their attempt at socialism during the 1980s. It is a textbook case showing how socialist control stifles national potential. The inability of the one-size-fits-all government to adapt led to massive debt and unemployment. Despite these woes, Cape Verde did produce some attractive stamps about local themes during these years.
