As Social Security fund runs dry, some Republicans say it’s time to raise taxes....Raising the payroll tax is gaining traction as a fix — even in the anti-tax GOP — to fend off deep cuts in retirement benefits. #SocialSecurity The TRUTH? When Social Security was created in 1935, it was a cash cow for the government, the money was spent on wars and other slop and Congress left a big pile of worthless IOU's totaling trillions. Very few lived long enough to collect benefits! If SS taxes are raised, Congress will steal the money. Also, immigrants who never paid a dime into the SS system are collecting benefits. Don't forget that American workers worked a lifetime and were forced to pay SS taxes; it's not welfare or an entitlement. They are benefits Americans worked and paid for. With folks living well into their 70's, 80's and even 90's, the government thieves are in a total panic!! Things got uglier when Medicare came along in 1965.
