Don't Mess With Grandpa: 77-year-old Shoots And Kills Armed Robber In Chicago According to police, the elderly was minding his business in a garage on East 89th near MLK in West Chesterfield around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, when the robber drove up, pulled out a gun and demanded his stuff. The 77-year-old was not having it. He pulled out a gun and shot the robber in the head and chest. Police said the robber -- later identified as Bernard Peterson -- was pronounced dead at the scene. The elderly man -- a retired firefighter -- has a valid Firearms Owner Identification Card and a Concealed Carry License. Gun rights and concealed carry advocates praised the 77-year-old's quick action, pointing out that his action ensures the armed robber is not going to be attacking another innocent ever again.
