IDF General: Israel Played A Role In Assassination Of Soleimani In an interview with the Malam magazine, retired Israel Defense Forces Major General, Tamir Hayman revealed that Israel "played a role" in the targeted killing last year of Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani by the United States military. Soleimani was the former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force chief. Israeli Intelligence blamed him for planning and executing deadly attacks against Jews and Israeli interests worldwide. The US blamed him for the December 2019, rocket attack on a base that housed US troops in Northern Baghdad. That attack killed an American contact and Iraqi personnel. He was also responsible for the death of hundreds of U.S. troops during the Iraq war. President Donald Trump ordered the drone strike that killed Soleimani in January last year near Baghdad airport, Iraq.
