Australia Corona-crazy: Novak Djokovic's Visa Cancelled Again Announcing the decision Friday, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke claimed that it is in the "public interest," to bar the the world's No 1, due to his vaccination status and vaccine exemption claims. "I carefully considered information provided to me by the Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Border Force and Mr. Djokovic," Hawke claimed. Djokovic has already started the process of an appeal, and could still play in the opening round of the Australian Open on Monday while the case makes its way through the courts. But If ultimately deported, he could face a 3-year ban from the country. The men's tennis star won an earlier court victory Monday against deportation, leaving the decision in the hands of Hawke who exercised his lawful discretion to cancel Djokovic's visa. Prime Minister Scott Morrison in a statement said: "Australians have made many sacrifices during this pandemic, and they rightly expect the result of those sacrifices to be protected.... This is what the Minister is doing in taking this action today." Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in a four-minute video posted to Instagram slammed the decision. "If you wanted to forbid Novak Djokovic to win the trophy for the 10th time, why didn't you return him immediately, why didn't you tell him that it was impossible to get a visa?" Mr Vučić asked in the clip. "Why do you mistreat him, why do you torture him, as well as his family and [a] nation that is free and proud? Critics online also slammed Australia's authoritarian coronavirus pandemic measures, praising Djokovic for standing up to the 'dictatorial craziness' which seems to have infected many western left-wing politicians and bureaucrats. https://www.keneci.com/read-more-hotfeed-on-keneci-channel#h.ye0fx6f87zpb
