@Gabriels_Horn well...the past few months have been hotter than usual and I have pulled up dead wilted herbs and veggies...twice now...but the interesting part was the containers they were growing in contained really depleted soil I am planning to replace before a serious fall garden...the interesting part is I placed one or two of those copper wrapped stakes I made into those pots planning to try some seeds and see if the stakes made a difference...I never had a chance to plant any seed...ln each planter or cloth pot every plant...basil...tomatoes...sweet potato vines...chives...and a couple of heads of Black Seeded Simpson lettuce...all volunteers popped up and were beautiful...they matured very quickly...I had lots of mini tomatoes...I watered them and that's about all no fertilizer at all...in each case the heat finally got them and they burned up or the they bolted...then the tomato horn worms attacked the still thriving bushes full of fruit...I can't think of why the plants popped up and thrived in that soil...it was so poor it doesn't hold together even when wet...I had egg plant in a few and pepprs in others...plants that are pretty heavier feeders...and the soil they left is pretty dead...so maybe the stakes helped?
