I have no idea how common this yet. It’s the first time our family has heard of this: The apartment complex our daughter has been living in for several years just announced that as of next week all units will be receiving “smart door locks”…some sort of listening device to goes in the utilities core where a.c.units, water heaters etc are at…supposedly it will just listen for running or dripping water and some box that has to be plugged into the wall…they do not explain what this box is for but it is owned by the installation company not the manufacturer of the other equipment or the apartment complex…They are supposedly “upgrading” to smart apartments…the system uses Alexa…any comments? BTW…this is in Florida…
