🇦🇹 $Austria’s government is moving toward a #ConstitutionalBAN on “political Islam,” with Chancellor #ChristianStocker arguing that #religion cannot be used to pursue #political goals that challenge the #democratic state. Integration Minister #ClaudiaBauer is now drafting the proposal, which is expected to include broader changes to laws governing religious groups and associations. #Bauer called political #Islam the “greatest danger of our time,” saying its organizations seek to place their #ideology above the democratic rule of law, reshape society and restrict the #freedom of women and girls. The wider crackdown also includes Austria’s new #Islamic headscarf ban for girls under 14 in schools and scrutiny of deradicalization programs. The Justice Ministry has ended cooperation with the Derad deradicalization organization after an assessment identified people associated with it as having links to #MuslimBrotherhood ideology. With its two HQs in London and Istanbul, as well as its state sponsors in Doha, Qatar, the Muslim Brotherhood has been spreading #Islamism and #violence across the West, Africa, and the Middle East. They are considered the largest and best-organized Islamist group in the world. The Muslim Brotherhood is banned in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, and several other Arab and Middle Eastern countries.
