How to start an Amaryllis bulb? This one is from Materials for the Arts. Inside the package is one Amaryllis bulb, one coco coir disc, and one pot. Place pot on top of soup bowl plate for purposes of catching excess water. Place the coco coir disc at bottom of pot and add water so disc will dissolve. Add the bulb with roots touching the coco coir and the pointed end of the bulb above the surface. Add potting soil, peat moss for nutrients and perlite for aeration in soil. Water each day until leaves form then transplant outside in the ground. Water once a week. Bulb will flower in 6 to 8 weeks.
