Measure the mattress A platform bed needs to be an inch longer or an inch wider than your mattress. When you place your mattress on the bed, there should be about a half an inch of a platform on both sides. 2. Deduct 12 inches Deduct 12 inches from the width and length of the mattress so that you get measurements for the platform base. The base needs to be smaller as compared to the platform. Cut correct board sizes Cut those boards and ensure that they are the right size that fits the base and places one edge to another such that it forms a rectangle. Take a measurement and cut about three crosspieces. It will depend on the base's size. These cross pieces would fit in the rectangle. Ensure that they are spaced evenly. 6. Use wood screws to assemble the base Drill holes to fit the screws in all boards and use glue to the ends to seal all the joints. Check the angles with a square to ensure that they are at 90 degrees. ------------------ Read more: https://www.scoop.it/topic/platform-bed-expert/p/4111198639/2019/10/07/best-twin-size-platform-bed-reviews-and-buying-guide ------------------ 7. Leave it for minutes Let the glue dry. Use wood putty to cover screw heads and then stain or paint the base's exterior. 9. Build the platform The way you assembled the base is the same way you will use to assemble the platform. But you need to remember that the width and length of your platform need to be 12 inches bigger than the base.
