What’s the Difference Between a Platform Bed and a Regular Bed? What is a regular bed? Mostly made out of wood or metal, regular beds or traditional beds are the type of bed frames that typically come with only 2-5 slats or wood pieces that lie across the sides of the bed frames. The slats are enough to support a box spring; however, they are not enough to support your mattress directly due to the large spacing between the slats. The box spring is a foundation that is made from wood and concealed with a cloth that sits under the mattress and offer adequate support. Unlike platform beds, regular beds have a high profile due to the box spring that lifts the mattress to add the extra height. What is a platform bed? Platform beds are some of the earliest beds in history. They are just low profile beds that don’t have box springs and designed to support the mattresses on their own. Its frames have evenly-distributed slats underneath to hold the mattress and are most frames are made from either wood, metal, upholstered, or plastic. The mattress sits directly on the platform and the slats provide support and air circulation. ➔➔➔ RELATED: https://platformbedexpert.com/whats-the-difference-between-a-platform-bed-and-a-regular-bed/
