百枝槻　momoetsuki.【追儺 Tsuina Ceremony 】19 槻の樹の異名。斎ひ槻などと『万葉集』では使われている 日本の樹の名前となります。 「天飛ぶや　軽の社の斎ひ槻　幾夜まであらむ　隠り嬬ぞも』 （軽の社にある神木の槻の樹のようにあの娘はいつまで人目をはばかり 隠し妻でいるのだろうか） 等の歌があります。 斎（いつき）は五十槻（いつき）と関連あるという話もありますが 時代を経て槻の樹は欅（けやき）と呼ばれるようになったそうです。 しかしなぜ欅と呼ばれるようになったかは謎のまま。 各地に伝承が残っていて、古代の天皇とその側近は神木である 槻の樹の下に集まって酒を飲んだりしたそうです。 槻の樹は巨木に育つので、かなりいろいろな建築に使われたために 切り倒すこともあったようですが、その場合は特定の一族が お祓いなどをしないと、巨木は切り倒せずに、かえって切り倒す人を 殺してしまうといったこともあったようそれが後々伝承となっています。 何かと特殊な意味を持つ樹のようです。 Another name for the tsuki tree.
