The Origins of the 'Hebrews' and Jewish Supremacism According to Mark Wallis in his Jesus In India docu-series the word 'hebrew' means 'traveller from the East' and the name 'Abraham' shares the same etymological root as the word 'Brahman'. "Brahman, also spelled Brahmin, Sanskrit Brāhmaṇa (“Possessor of Brahma”), highest ranking of the four varnas, or social classes, in Hindu India. The elevated position of the Brahmans goes back to the late Vedic period, when the Indo-European-speaking settlers in northern India were already divided into Brahmans (or priests), warriors (of the Kshatriya class), traders (of the Vaishya class), and labourers (of the Shudra class)." If Wallis is right and the Hebrews of Jesus era were originally Brahman's from India but had travelled West to settle in Egypt and Palestine, likely to set up a trading post, then this goes a long way to explaining the racism, supremacism and exceptionalism that is so ingrained in fundamentalist Jewish and Zionist attitudes - its a legacy from the Bronze age Indian caste system. This legacy also explains their attitudes to education, business, politics, power and religion: "The basis of the age-old veneration of Brahmans is the belief that they are inherently of greater ritual purity than members of other castes and that they alone are capable of performing certain vital religious tasks." It also means that through 'Abrahamism' they have essentially re-invented and exported the Indian caste system around the world by subjugating non-Jewish believers of the Abrahamic faiths. After a brief online search for the etymology of Abraham, Brahman and hebrew I have not been able to corroborate Wallis version of the etymology but the sources I've checked are in the English language and only go back as far as the twelfth century. Knowledge of Indian and Hebrew etymology is required to verify Wallis info but I have no reason to doubt him.
