So - this past week I did my longest extended fast to date. Nearly 90 hours. Also, I worked very hard at limiting the amount of time I was online. I feel soooo much healthier and better - far more alert and focused. My idea of Keto is clean keto. Admittedly, for the past year I haven't been doing so well with keto. I was off more than on, and frustrated with myself - which was a huge reason why I did the fast. I felt like I needed to get my head back in the right space. And it worked. And part of what I realized was even with clean keto, I still had too many carbs in my diet. It was keeping my body in a cycle of craving. So, here is my grocery haul from today. I'm trying Ketovore. It's like Carnivore (a subset of Keto), but with limited veg. So my plate is: taco meat (made with my own seasonings) with 1 TB of butter, 2 eggs fried in butter, 1/2 c of homemade sauerkraut, and 1/2 an avocado (which I didn't get through because I was full - so I ate only 1/3 of it). After an 18-hour fast, this made me comfortably full. My goal is to keep my carbs at 10 grams or below. I'll be posting my 2nd meal later. So - my haul: 30 farm-fresh eggs from my neighbor Greek Yogurt Fried pork fat Ground pork/beef Lard Blue cheese Cream cheese Chicken thighs Feta cheese Mayonnaise A big hunk of some other kind of cheese (I like cheese) Bacon Grill sausages Parmesan cheese Butter Tuna I always have a huge jar of homemade sauerkraut in the fridge. DON'T COOK WITH IT! Cooking with it destroys the good bacteria. Eat it cold and drizzle with olive oil. Even my kids love it! I also always have bone broth in the freezer. Lots of it. I plan to use avocados, pickles, olives, and pickled peppers with Ketovore. I will - once again - try to also use organ meat. I am determined to learn how to like it. Starting tomorrow, I'm doing a weekly 48 hour fast (Sunday's final meal to Tuesday afternoon), combined with Ketovore for incredible hormone balancing and healthy weight loss.
