Khau Pha Pass - It is one of the most winding and steep passes in the North (one of the Four Great Peaks of the North) crossing the top of Khau Pha mountain, the highest mountain in Mu Cang Chai. Khau Pha Pass has a starting point at the intersection of National Highway 32 with Highway 279 in a row with Chau Pass in front of it and Vach Kim Pass behind on road 32. The winding passes between the old forests still carry bold primitive features and terraced fields of the H’Mong and Thai ethnic groups. Khau Pha is most beautiful in the rice season, around September-October, when the rice on the foot of the terraced fields is ripe and golden. This is also the time when many tourists venture to conquer the pass to enjoy the scenery. The old forests in Khau Pha still preserve many rare plants and animals such as pine needles, cycads and other rare birds and animals. In the past few years, the pass has become the starting point for paragliding activities in Mu Cang Chai, part of the annual Mu Cang Chai terraced field festival. Paragliding is always in the top of the main activities of the annual Mu Cang Chai ripe rice festival Up to the highest point on Khau Pha pass is where the annual paragliding festival “Flying in the golden season” is held. If you love adventure activities, you can buy tickets to experience this feeling of flying, flying high and watching the rice ripen from a very unique position.
