@helobuff Operation Paperclip was part of the absolute total plundering of Germany after her surrender: all the invaders wanted their share of German brains; the US, UK, Soviet Union (notice no one talks about that?) took at barrel of a gun all their top scientists (Germany was the most educated country in Europe) - with the Allies even having fights over who got who! Those men had the theoretical choice of staying and having their families raped and tortured some more and murdered, or going to work for the invaders government. ie; They didnโt have a choice. The Americans also plundered hundreds of thousands of advanced German patents. Operation Paperclip was a sinister conspiracy alright, just not how you think! "German science has been destroyed, and with it German ability to compete commercially with the war victors. We even managed to kidnap a large number from the western Russian zone when we retired to let the Russians take over. As a consequence we now have at our disposal hundreds of German scientists who no doubt constitute one of our most profitable acquisitions taken from the fallen Reich. The sacking of Germany after her unconditional surrender will go down in history as one of the most monstrous acts of modern times. Its excess beggars description and its magnitude defy condemnation.โ ~ Ralph F. Keeling, Gruesome harvest; the costly attempt to exterminate the German people, 1947 @kirkcp @FreakSpeely
