Life in the echo chamber of decline, division, corporatism and conspiracy theories America hasn’t been the United States of America for some time now having become in its stead the United States of Corporatism. Money rules, corporate influence and bought and paid for politicians hold sway. It’s no longer about diversity, reasoned debate and compromise as envisioned by the founders, and common cause - it’s about division, wedges being purposefully driven into the fabric of the nation and capitalizing on the results. The history of empire is decline, decline whether it be Alexander’s empire, that of the Ottoman, the Zulu, British Colonialism, or any other and now America’s descent into the abyss of banana REPUGLICANISM. No kings, no monarchy, no royalty for America - a rallying cry that led to a war and the birth of a nation founded on a principle that all were created equal and endowed with specific inalienable rights both written, assumed, and god given, A pledge that the primary goal of a newly established government was promoting the common generational welfare of it’s people, all of it’s people. The common welfare and the defense of those people - the aspirations and intent written on parchment and in the hearts of men and women in a land blanketed with the blood of the original inhabitants, religious zealotry, pilgrim immigrants, slaves, civil war, domestic and foreign wars large and small, and above all deceit, The dream didn’t last long and the rate of decline has accelerated. An almost imperceptible chipping away began immediately having now thrown aside the cover of darkness to rampage across the country and not so free home of the brave who now lack the courage of their pilgrim forefathers to demand accountability opting instead to post feckless verbal diatribes about what they will do as true patriots who live for the next sound bite, the next conspiracy theory, an echo chamber that stifles reason and facts, while discouraging any language other than doublespeak increasingly written and proclaimed as free speech on banners and placards. Unity and the common welfare?Forget about it, an impediment to the very ideals people pay lip service to - an obstacle to ill founded cults of personality, corporate influence, leading not to independence but a caricature of the misnomered family values, god and country, and above all public service. Lincoln during his Gettysburg address said a nation divided against itself cannot stand - maybe that’s something people should put all the bullshit aside and start thinking about.
