https://www.nintendo.co.jp/corporate/release/en/2025/251127.html Nintendo is buying a development team from Bandai Namco so it's a Nintendo-owned subsidiary. What's interesting is that in addition to members of this team being part of Sakurai's team for the last couple Smash games as well as Kirby Air Riders, they were also supposed to be the primary developers for Metroid Prime 4. It was some weird experiment Nintendo was doing to have multiple teams from different countries working on one project. But they didn't like how it was turning out so it got re-assigned to Retro. (In one interview that I can't locate at the moment, someone at Retro said they did keep some ideas from the original devs for Beyond, but I don't think they gave any specifics.) Just an interesting bit of news.
