Some people walk outside in summer and come back covered in bites. Others standing right next to them are completely ignored. Most people assume it is random luck. It is not. A new study from Florida International University involving 119 volunteers just confirmed what many people have long suspected. Mosquitoes are making deliberate choices based on your biology. ❓ What is actually attracting mosquitoes to certain people? Researchers tested three different mosquito species and found that attraction came down to two things: 1️⃣ The volatile organic compounds your skin produces, which are essentially the gases your skin bacteria release as they interact with your natural secretions. 2️⃣ The specific composition of your skin microbiome itself. Three bacterial species were consistently found across all high-attraction participants: 1️⃣ Corynebacterium kefirresidentii 2️⃣ Cutibacterium granulosum 3️⃣ A variant of Staphylococcus epidermidis People who were least attractive to mosquitoes carried higher levels of a different bacterium entirely, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which was largely absent from the most attractive volunteers. This means mosquito attraction is not random. It is driven by your specific skin chemistry, which varies from person to person based on genetics, diet, hygiene habits, and the unique bacterial ecosystem living on your skin. ❓ Does being more attractive to one species mean you attract all of them? This is one of the more interesting findings. Not necessarily. Each mosquito species showed preferences for different individuals and different bacterial profiles. Being a magnet for one species did not automatically make you a target for all three. The attraction appears to be species-specific, which adds another layer of complexity to why some people seem to get destroyed at a backyard barbecue while others walk away clean. ❓ What can you actually do about it? Until science figures out how to reliably engineer the skin microbiome to make us less attractive, the most practical tool is still repellent, but not all repellent is created equal, and DEET-based options come with their own concerns around skin absorption and toxicity with repeated use. BuzzPatch Mosquito Patches use citronella and lavender essential oils in a DEET-free, non-toxic patch that attaches to clothing rather than skin. Most effective in the first eight hours and continues working for up to 72 hours from application. Plant-based, non-toxic, and practical for travel, outdoor activities, or anywhere you want protection without chemical exposure. 👉 See it here → https://amzn.to/3T4onBg #ad The science on why mosquitoes prefer certain people is getting clearer. In the meantime, making yourself a less appealing target with the right repellent is still the most reliable thing you can actually control. #maha #maga #truth
