Zinc + The Common Cold 🪨🤧 Zinc is an important mineral for normal immune function and has been widely studied for the common cold. A 2024 Cochrane review examined 34 randomized trials involving 8,526 people. Zinc taken after cold symptoms began reduced cold duration by about two days compared with placebo. You feel that first scratch at the back of your throat and just KNOW --> here comes the congestion, tissues, and several days of feeling miserable. But research shows zinc may help shorten the duration of a cold when used early. Three things matter when choosing zinc: 1️⃣ FORM: Research on the common cold has focused heavily on zinc lozenges like these --> https://amzn.to/4rbEycA #ad 2️⃣ TIMING: Studies showing benefits have generally started zinc within 24 hours of the first cold symptoms. 3️⃣ DOSE: Research showing the strongest benefit has generally used zinc lozenges providing about 80 to 92 mg of elemental zinc per day, divided throughout the day. If you want to keep something on hand for cold season, zinc lozenges are an option worth knowing about. These are the zinc lozenges that we use because they are affordable and easy to find (https://amzn.to/4h4Mqb4 #ad) but use what works for you! Just be sure to have them already on hand so you can take them at the very first hint of a cold or sore throat. 🔗 Research: https://www.cochrane.org/evidence/CD014914_zinc-prevention-and-treatment-common-cold
