My sixth alt-tech recommendation is a replacement for Evernote/OneNote that keeps your notes and lists encrypted as well as a replacement for Google Calendar so that you don't let Google know everywhere you're going and at what time (it's hard to believe we allowed this, but that ends today). Your notes are where you store your ideas and other sensitive information and thus only you should have the ability to read them. I am going to recommend you switch over to http://JoplinApp.org. Joplin is an open-source notebook (and to-do list program) with end-to-end encryption that feels very much like Evernote. It has a desktop application, as well as apps for both Android/iOs. They allow you to backup your notes to cloud storage and allow easy important of your notes from Evernote (or other notebook software). I love Joplin but if you don't like the feel of it, http://StandardNotes.org is a good alternative that is also encrypted. I'm going to assume you took my advice on post #1 and switched over to ProtonMail. If you did, you have access to their ProtonCalendar (beta). Currently it can be accessed through the web and Android store (iOs users, an app will be coming shortly). It is a private and secure calendar with end-to-end encryption. If that doesn't work for you, the e-mail provider Tutanota has a similar one with the same security and privacy. You'll find it handy to have your calendar and contacts with the same place you have your e-mail service. So if you haven't done that yet, let this be a catalyst to finally get you off Gmail. A last option is EteSync which offers end-to-end encryption for your contacts, calendars, tasks, and notes. While Joplin is free, you're going to need to spend a little money on your calendar (for a paid ProtonMail or Etesync). Let me use this as an opportunity to give a quick riff. You're used to getting everything for free because your data is the payment. If you now want to take back your data and keep it yourself, you're going to have to start becoming comfortable with paying for the services you use. This is a mental shift that you have to work through. Ask yourself: "what's more valuable to me, my data/privacy or my money?" Companies deserve to be compensated for the products they create and services they provide, so they can either take payment from your wallet or they can use/sell your data.
