A Weird Encounter The photographer wrote - "I took this a couple of years ago and was wondering if anyone has seen something similar. I was sitting on the edge of a stream, waiting to photograph water voles, and in the opposite field a pheasant was strutting around, calling and flapping it's wings (it is late winter when the males start declaring their availability to the ladies!). A barn owl came into the field and started quartering it, hunting for voles. All was well until it flew over the top of the pheasant when it leapt up a brought the barn owl down! The owl wriggled itself free, leaving the pheasant with a beakful of feathers. Probably the most unexpected wildlife encounter I've ever had." Taken by Simon Litten.
