Like there are side effects to making reality more liquid, like reality itself starts to degrade. So we get a reality with magic, but that reality can only last 10,000 years before reality dissolves apart. Or even worse, like how parasites drive a crazy cat hoarder to create the most awful conditions imaginable for the benefit of the parasite... but then that eventually leads to the death of the greater being and then the entire house/reality is BURNED! D: You get limited heaven on Earth, but then infinite hell. Like imagine the magic comes to life and then starts having a will/autonomy of its own!
