I wish they'd make a new Lego movie where it's like... SPACESHIPS! Look, I could not identify AT ALL with the first two major Lego films because... my sister hated Lego. She was into Barbies and such. Instead I had a brother and we had CREATIVE RIVALRY! You build a ship, I build a ship, you build a base, I build a base... before long the entire living room is covered in an armada of next level spaceships all ready to make like "Sacrifice of Angels"... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3JO6_QBb4s THAT is the Lego movie I want to see! LEGO RIVALRY! The REAL kind, not this "boys vs girls" horseshit! MEN VS MEN! Ever wonder why Benny is so happy go lucky? It's cause he's seen some shit... some real serious shit. So he's gotta stay light as air or else the gravity of what he's witnessed in battle will pull his perception into a black hole of endless despair! Metaphors within metaphors, imaginative space within the mind of an imaginative space man subject to the backstories of his childish creator. These backstories collide in epic battle as two brothers fight each other, not in physicality, but in immateriality, in fiction, in fun. Benny realizes as horrible as his life is, he gets to protect innocence from that awfulness, so even if his effective life as a Lego space man is as fleeting as a red shirt on Star Trek, at least it's an imaginative life that's able to give some greater life to meaning. The Benny character should go through two shocking revelations, the first is that he realizes his backstory is fiction and so is everyone else's backstory. Everyone is forced to battle each other... over and over and over. But then it gets worse! The SECOND revelation... No one is really real. At first he's kinda shell shocked over the realization of the brutality of his existence, the traumas he's forced to carry for his creator. But in his awareness he finds out that other spacemen are "changed around", not just their backstories but their entire physical being! He even witnesses character swapping, where the backstory of one character is put into another space man, maybe one used for "parts" so he's missing a hand and maybe has odd colored pants and a terrible looking outfit that doesn't really match. So then he has a second epiphany where... even though he's in a form of hell, it's a form of fictional hell. So then he starts trying to use his own sense of creation within the character, acting in character, as a means of trying to override the emotions of the creator. To show the creator that his creations can create in character as a means of helping the creator create past their problems in life which then positively affects the Lego reality. I like this. But the ships have to be REALLY good! No pedestrian horseshit. It would be best to buy existing designs from AFOLs to get the best variety and best work for the film.
