Vetus Ordo (1962 Missal): Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost Readings (RSVCE): Epistle Ephesians 3:13-21; Gospel Luke 14:1-11. The feasts differ: Ordinary Time Sunday versus the traditional Sunday after Pentecost. Novus Ordo theme: Unlimited forgiveness rooted in the mercy we ourselves have received. Vetus Ordo theme: Strengthened by the Spirit so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith, lived in humble charity. Connection: Both point us to a life that flows from the Lord’s own mercy and power rather than our own strength.
