Gab

Last updated June 17, 2026

Gab is a free-speech social network founded in 2016 by Andrew Torba. It gives individuals, businesses, and creators a place to share ideas, news, video, and commentary without the viewpoint-based moderation policies that have led to mass deplatforming on Twitter/X, Facebook, and YouTube.

What it means

Where most social networks reserve the right to remove content they find objectionable — regardless of legality — Gab uses the First Amendment as its practical baseline. Speech is only actioned when it crosses into conduct that is genuinely illegal under U.S. law, not because it challenges a mainstream narrative or makes a platform uncomfortable.

The platform includes posts, groups, feeds, Gab Clips, Gab Video, live streaming, Gab News, direct messages, and a marketplace for businesses and products — all under one login.

How it works on Gab

Creating an account is free. Public profiles, posts, and groups are visible to anyone without logging in. Once you join, you can post text (up to 3,000 characters), images, video, polls, and quote posts. GabPRO is an optional paid upgrade that adds larger upload limits and power-user tools, but the core experience costs nothing.

Gab runs its own servers and data centers, and processes GabPRO subscriptions through in-house payment infrastructure — which means a single cloud provider or payment processor can't take Gab offline the way Big Tech platforms have been able to pull the plug on smaller services.
