A verified account on Gab carries a badge indicating that the account represents a real, authenticated individual or organization — and that Gab has confirmed the identity behind it. Unlike Twitter/X, which changed verification to a paid tier under Elon Musk, Gab's verification is granted by the platform based on legitimacy, not subscription status.

What it means

Verification on social platforms originally had one job: signal that an account is who it claims to be. A verified badge on a politician's account means it's actually run by that politician, not an impersonator. Twitter/X's decision to sell verification destroyed this signal — now a checkmark means only that someone paid $8 a month. Gab maintains the original meaning.

Verified status on Gab is visible as a badge on the account's profile and next to their name in posts and comments.

How it works on Gab

Verification is applied by Gab to notable individuals, organizations, and public figures whose identity it's important to confirm at a glance.
