What happens with copyrighted content on Gab?
Last updated June 17, 2026
Gab complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and has a standard notice-and-takedown process for copyright infringement claims. If you own a copyright and someone has posted your protected work on Gab without authorization, you can submit a DMCA takedown notice.
DMCA takedown process
Submit your takedown request to Gab's designated DMCA agent — the contact information is in Gab's Terms of Service and DMCA policy page at gab.com. Your notice must include standard DMCA requirements: identification of the copyrighted work, identification and location of the infringing material on Gab, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and your signature.
Valid takedown notices are processed and the infringing content is removed. The uploader receives notice of the takedown and can file a counter-notice if they believe the takedown was incorrect.
Counter-notices
The DMCA counter-notice process allows users to dispute incorrect or abusive takedown requests. If a counter-notice is filed and the original complainant doesn't file a court action within 10–14 business days, the content may be restored under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).
What the DMCA doesn't cover
DMCA is for copyright infringement — it doesn't apply to content you simply disagree with or find offensive. Those are moderation issues governed by Gab's Terms of Service, not copyright law.
