Does Gab rely on Big Tech infrastructure?
Last updated June 17, 2026
No — Gab deliberately does not rely on Big Tech infrastructure. Gab AI Inc. owns and operates its own physical servers and runs its own payment processing. It does not host on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
Why infrastructure independence matters
The 2018 deplatforming campaign against Gab demonstrated exactly why platform infrastructure independence is critical for free speech platforms. Parler, a competing platform, faced the same coordinated deplatforming in January 2021 — Amazon Web Services terminated its hosting contract, and the platform went offline entirely because it lacked Gab's independently owned infrastructure. Parler required weeks to rebuild and resume operation.
Gab's architecture — own servers, own data centers, own payment rails — eliminates the chokepoints that deplatforming campaigns depend on. No cloud provider can take it offline; no payment processor can cut off its revenue.
What Gab owns
- Physical servers in U.S.-based data centers owned and operated by Gab AI Inc.
- In-house payment processing for GabPRO subscriptions.
- Direct domain management with registrar configuration managed to avoid the 2018-style domain seizure.
