How do I delete my Gab account?

Yes — you can permanently delete your Gab account yourself at gab.com/settings/delete. You confirm with your current password, and the deletion is immediate and irreversible. GabPRO members are the one exception and need to email support instead.

Before you delete: download your data

Deletion cannot be undone, so export anything you might want first. Go to gab.com/settings/export and request your archive. It is generated in the ActivityPub format that any compliant software can read, and contains your gabs, your account details, your likes, and your avatar and header images.

Two limits are worth knowing before you start. The archive does not include media you uploaded in posts — if your photos and videos matter to you, save them separately. And you can only request an archive once every seven days, so start the request before you begin deleting anything.

The same page offers CSV downloads of the accounts you follow, the accounts you block, the accounts you mute, and your feeds. Those are separate one-click downloads and are not rate limited the way the full archive is.

How to delete your Gab account

1. Log in at gab.com.
2. Open your account settings at gab.com/auth/edit — that is the Account section of Settings.
3. Follow the link to delete your account, or go straight to gab.com/settings/delete.
4. Read the warning on the page. It confirms that deletion permanently and irreversibly removes your content.
5. Enter your current password. This is the only confirmation step — Gab does not ask for a two-factor code here, even if you have two-factor authentication enabled.
6. Select Delete account. You are signed out immediately and returned to the login page.

Gab's settings pages are ordinary web pages rather than part of the app interface, so these steps work identically in a mobile browser and in the Gab progressive web app. There is no separate delete option hidden inside a phone app, and nothing here requires a desktop computer.

What happens when you delete your account

The deletion is queued the moment you confirm. There is no cooling-off period, no confirmation email to click, and no window in which you can change your mind.

Removed from Gab: your posts and reposts, the media attached to them, your followers and the accounts you follow, your likes, bookmarks, feeds, pinned posts, scheduled posts, notifications, and any marketplace listings. Your profile is stripped at the same time — display name, bio, and profile fields are cleared, and your avatar and header images are deleted.

Your username stays reserved. Gab deliberately does not release it back into the pool. Keeping it locked prevents somebody else from registering your old handle and impersonating you after you have gone.

One limit applies to every social platform, Gab included: only removal from Gab's own servers can be guaranteed. Anything widely shared — quoted, screenshotted, reposted elsewhere, or cached by a search engine — can survive outside Gab's control.

If you have GabPRO

Accounts with an active GabPRO subscription cannot use the self-service form. Attempting it returns the message "Active PRO. Please email [email protected] to delete your account."

Email [email protected] from the address on the account and ask for deletion. Treat the subscription as a separate matter and settle it at pro.gab.com — cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are two different actions, and you do not want billing continuing after you have left.

Alternatives worth considering first

Deletion is permanent and is often more than people actually want. Three narrower options exist.

Delete your posts but keep the account. gab.com/settings/delete_statuses permanently removes your statuses, comments, and media while leaving the account itself, your username, and your follows intact. It is confirmed with your password and is just as irreversible as deleting the account, but you keep the handle.

Make your account private. If the goal is to stop strangers reading your posts rather than to leave, switching the account to private means new followers need your approval.

Step away without deleting. Gab does not offer a separate deactivation switch that hides an account temporarily — see deactivating a Gab account for what is genuinely available.

Troubleshooting

"Nice try, hackers! Incorrect password." The password you entered did not match. Reset it at gab.com/auth/password/new, then return to the delete page — resetting your Gab password walks through it.

You cannot log in at all. The delete form is only reachable while signed in, so recover access first. Troubleshooting Gab login problems covers the usual causes.

You see the "Active PRO" message. That is the GabPRO block described above, not an error. Email [email protected].

Your profile still appears immediately afterwards. Removal runs as a background job rather than instantly. You are signed out straight away, but clearing out a large account's posts and media takes time to work through.
