How does Gab handle illegal content?
Last updated June 17, 2026
Gab removes content that is illegal under U.S. law. Illegal content is actioned without delay, often without appeal, and where legally required, reported to the appropriate authorities.
CSAM
Child sexual abuse material is removed immediately and the incident is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by U.S. law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A). Accounts posting CSAM are permanently banned. There is no appeal.
Credible threats
Direct, specific threats of violence against identified individuals are removed and the account is suspended. Vague hyperbole or political rhetoric is treated differently from content that constitutes a genuine credible threat — the legal standard matters. Law enforcement may be notified for serious threats.
Doxxing with harmful intent
Publishing someone's private personal information (home address, workplace, family members) accompanied by incitement to harm that person is removed. Journalism about public figures and factual reporting are not doxxing.
Reporting illegal content
Use Gab's built-in reporting tool to flag content you believe is illegal. See how to report content on Gab for the process.
