Is Gab AI uncensored?

Gab AI is designed to be significantly more permissive than mainstream AI tools on politically and culturally sensitive topics. It explicitly positions itself as an alternative to the content filter regimes at OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), and Microsoft (Copilot).

What "uncensored" means in practice

Mainstream AI tools have well-documented patterns of refusing certain queries: declining to write content expressing conservative political views, refusing to engage with certain historical events from particular angles, or providing heavily qualified responses on contested cultural topics. These refusals are the result of deliberate training choices by the companies that build them.

Gab AI's design minimizes these refusals. Topics that ChatGPT frequently declines are more likely to receive direct, substantive responses from Gab AI. This includes religious content, politically heterodox positions, historical subjects that are sensitive in mainstream discourse, and creative content that mainstream tools routinely flag.

Limits

No AI tool is completely without limits — Gab AI won't generate CSAM or content that facilitates illegal acts. "Uncensored" means minimal political and ideological filtering, not the complete absence of any standards. The focus is on removing viewpoint-based restrictions, not enabling genuinely harmful content.
